Shakila Khan Chayan is an expressionist oil painter based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Born and raised across both rural and urban landscapes of the country, her work reflects a deeply intuitive and emotional engagement with memory and human experience. Her paintings are characterized by bold, gestural brushwork, thick impasto textures, and a richly saturated color palette.
Influenced by the Expressionist movement and the teachings of Bangladeshi masters such as Prof. Murtaza Bashir and Prof. Mansurul Karim, her subject matter often explores themes of isolation, introspection, portraiture, and the human figure in motion. Over the years, her artistic language has evolved from subdued, monochromatic tones to an unrestrained and vibrant use of bold hues. Her works are held in both private and public collections worldwide.
