Movement is often imagined as progress, yet in the contemporary city it is equally a condition of interruption, negotiation, and survival. In Anatomy of Transit, Kuntal Barai examines the infrastructures and rhythms that shape urban life, using Dhaka as both subject and point of departure.
Through painting, drawing, and mixed media, Barai dissects the visual language of movement. Roads become arteries, intersections pulse like vital organs, and vehicles transform into symbols of a city caught between motion and stillness. Rather than depicting traffic, the works reveal mobility as a system shaped by aspiration, inequality, and resilience.
