Shakil Mridha was born in a serene and picturesque village in Manikganj, near Dhaka. Growing up amidst the natural beauty and quiet rhythms of rural life, he developed a deep connection with his surroundings. The vibrant simplicity of village life, its colors, rituals, and daily scenes, became a recurring muse in his artistic journey.
Shakil’s practice centers on modern folk narratives, often translated into printmaking, painting, and large-scale public artworks. His work is rooted in the organic textures of rural Bangladesh and strives to bridge the local with contemporary visual language. In 2024, Shakil was one of two featured artists commissioned by Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited to create a 200,000 sq. ft. painting on the ceiling of the Mohakhali Flyover, depicting the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. He also participated in the same campaign during BPL 2025, contributing to large-scale murals at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium alongside three other artists.
